As Christians, we are co-laborers with God and with each other called to fulfill the cultural mandate for the common good. This truth transforms the method and meaning of our daily work. Co-Labor exists to equip Baptists with practical wisdom and thoughtful resources to integrate faith and work in ways that are meaningful and accessible.

We use the term daily work rather than “vocation” or “career” because work is not limited to a profession—it is a fundamental part of being human. While not everyone has a career, everyone engages in work. Whether it’s raising children, fixing an AC unit, editing an Excel spreadsheet, making lattes, leading a business, or milking cows, daily work is simply what the day calls you to do.

By recognizing work in this broader sense, we affirm that all labor—whether in an office, a home, a field, or a workshop—matters. Work is not just a means to a paycheck but an opportunity to glorify God, serve others, and contribute to the common good.

God created humanity in His image and gave them the responsibility to rule over and care for His creation alongside and on behalf of Him. This mandate extends beyond the natural environment and includes the cultivation of family, education, culture, arts, sciences, technology, and social structures.

The common good is the flourishing of all people and communities in ways that reflect God’s justice, wisdom, and love. It is not merely the sum of individual benefits but the shared well-being of society as a whole, where people thrive relationally, spiritually, and materially.

Rooted in biblical teaching, the common good includes fairness, dignity, and opportunity for all, ensuring that human work, institutions, and cultures align with God’s purposes. It calls Christians to seek the welfare of their neighbors (Jeremiah 29:7), pursue justice and righteousness (Micah 6:8), and contribute to a world where truth, beauty, and goodness are cultivated for the benefit of all.
