Liturgies of Labor: A Liturgy for Workplace Loneliness or Isolation

Lord, it is a strange thing

to stand among people all day

and still feel unseen.

You know how silence can echo in a break room,

how conversations can swirl around me

without ever landing near my heart.

I miss the ease of belonging.

I miss laughter that feels shared.

I miss the sense of being known.

So I offer You this quiet ache.

I ask You to root my worth

not in whether anyone remembers my name,

but in the fact that You call me Your own.

Give me eyes to notice others

who feel as disconnected as I do.

Let me be a small sign of welcome

in a place where many feel alone.

And slowly—gently—

open doors to community,

even if it begins with one honest conversation

or one moment of courage.

Be my companion

in the places where companionship feels scarce.

Amen.
